Sure you can. I'd start with an empty block, then set the
Snap to Angle to
45°, and
Symmetry to
2 rotations. Then you can draw both edges of the striped area in one go and be sure the block lines up on all sides. Leave to those settings on to draw perfectly aligned stripes, or switch them of to make more of a "crazy patchwork" filling.
