Quilt Assistant / erasing functioṇ

Hi, I have your software installed and running for about three years and have introduced it to many people but have never put it to test except for playing around a bit. This week I made a compass pattern to use in my current quilṭ I find that when I draw a circle using mirror up/down, right left and the design as quarter circle, I am unable to stop after drawing the circle. I end up with lines extending to the edge of the square. How do I either erase the lines (cntrl-z did not work) or stop where I wanṭ. I also had a tough time drawing vertical and horizontal lines as the dividing lines made by the mirror display does not let one see when the lines are drawn. I tried inserting the image but cant seem to do it so have attached it. Hope you can tell me what I am doing wrong.

Quilt Assistant / 1'' mark on pattern
« Last post by Timiren on 17 July 2015, 13:33:59 »
Hi! Thank you for making this awesome program which learned my how to make my own paper pieced patterns. I have tip for new feature. I would really love if i could print my patterns with 1'' inch mark or square to be able check if I printed my pattern correctly. I share patterns with other people and when you forget to uncheck "fit to page" setting it can really mess up the size of final block. Thanks!

Quilt Assistant / Re: Printing final design? Print piecing order?

Hi,

To print an image of the full picture with pattern lines, use the "Design" tab on the print dialog. There are several settings there, to make the design fit on a single page and to choose between showing the original image or the colored pattern pieces.

The naming/labeling of pieces can be done with menu "Edit" -> "Name shapes for paper piecing". The software will try to find the best way to piece the pattern, which should work OK for the dolphin. For more complex design, you may need to help the software and manually decide how to label the pieces.

Sewing together: each block uses its on letter (block A, B, C and so on), followed by a number for each piece in the block. The sewing order: sew A1 to A2, then A3 to (A1+A2), then A4 to (A1+A2+A3), and so on. Repeat for every block. You will have to figure out for yourself in which order the pieced blocks should be put together, the software does not tell you that.

Quilt Assistant / Printing final design? Print piecing order?
« Last post by Emoser17 on 03 May 2015, 20:46:44 »
Hi,
I went through the dolfin tutorial.  It went well.  In the end I was able to print the pattern pieces, but not a finished, color  picture of the dolfin with the pattern lines.  I think it would be beneficial to have the finished picture.  How do I print this picture?  Also how do I label each piece (ie. A,B, C) and then print the piecing order (ie. A+B)?
I am really excited to get going on my pattern designing A!  Thanks Quilt Assistant!!!

It is difficult to say what goes wrong in this case, since the print preview seems to show that the design can be printed without problems. I would advice to install a so-called PDF Printer, which is a piece of (free) software that you can download. With that you can "print" your design to a PDF file and see if that produces the correct result.

You can find many free PDF printers through Google, most are free but usually come with some extra unwanted bits that you may want to uncheck during installation.

Arnout

I went through the posted tutorials and did some blocks of my own, but they will not print. They show up in the preview, but the printed paper only has the copyright on it. Can someone please help me?

Hi Janettx,

I do not know of any Facebook group to do this, but it sounds like a good idea, so maybe you should start one. I would be happy to put up a link to it on the QuiltAssistant download page so people can find it.
