Wie goed heeft opgelet heeft het misschien al gezien: sinds kort staan ook de winkels in Zwitserland op de kaart! De lijst is samengesteld met hulp van de mensen van patCHquilt, het zwitserse patchwork-gilde, die me zo vriendelijk hebben geholpen met het maken van een selectie.
Mochten er Zwitserland-kenners zijn die nog een foutje ontdekken, laat het me weten!

Les R2 (R van Regina) geschreven door Regina Grewe, op haar website in het Duits beschikbaar.
Kleurontwerp voor quilts met een regelmatig patroon
Stel dat je een quilt op basis van zeshoeken wilt maken en een ontwerp/kleurinvulling zoekt dat een beetje anders is dan de vaak gebruikte bloempatronen. En je hebt een foto waarvan de kleuren en verdeling daarvan je bijzonder aanspreken.
Start – zoals in les R1 beschreven – de QuiltAssistent op en kies voor hexagon (=zeshoek).
Kklik nu linksonder op "Bladeren..." en er verschijnt een venster waarin je - op de gebruikelijke Windows-manier - een foto-bestand uitkiezen kunt. Rechtsboven kun je de functie "Miniatuurweergaven" ingeschakelen en het venster wat groter maken; dat is handig bij het uitzoeken van een foto. Natuur- en bloemen-foto's hebben vaak mooie kleuren, maar het kan net zo goed een afbeelding van een schilderij of een Hundertwasser-huis zijn. Of gebruik een detail van foto (d.m.v. een fotobewerkingsprogramma) met een fraaie kleurencombinatie erin. Met "Openen" ga je terug naar QA.
In dit voorbeeld gebruik ik de volgende afbeelding:
Stel nu de grootte en het aantal stukjes in (zie les R1 voor details). Het voorbeeld-venster helpt je daarbij; het wordt bij elke wijziging bijgewerkt. QA vertelt je ook vriendelijk uit hoeveel stukjes het ontwerp zal bestaan. In mijn geval 332. Hier kun je je dus nog eens afvragen, of je écht aan dit project wil beginnen...
Klik op OK en het werkvenster toont je gelijk een kant en klaar kleurontwerp!
Vergeet niet om op te slaan!
Het programma staat nu in de modus "Inkleuren" en toont een apart venster voor de klueren.
Je kunt het zo groot maken, dat je alle gebruikte kleuren ziet. Waarschijnlijk zijn het er nu teveel om in de stofvoorraad te kunnen vinden. Ga naar "Bewerken - Aantal kleuren verminderen" en stel een realistischer aantal in. De overgebleven kleuren kun je nu verder veranderen en/of opnieuw indelen. Meer daarover in de volgende les, of experimenteer zelf!

Color design for quilts with a regular pattern
Let's assume you want to make a quilt out of hexagons and you are looking for a design and color scheme, that is a bit different from the traditional flower-based motifs. Let's also assume that you have a photo in which the colors and arrangement are particularly pleasing.
Start the Quilt Assistant – as described in tutorial R1 – and choose hexagons.
Click on "Browse..." and a window will appear where can you choose a photo file, in the usual Windows-way. On the top-right you can choose the function "Thumbnails" and you can make the window itself bigger to make it easier to find the photo you are looking for. Nature and flower photos often have beatiful colors, but it could also be an image of a paintung oder a Hundertwasser-building. Or make a detail cut of an image, that contains nice color combinations. With "Open" you will return to QA.
I will use the following image for this tutorial:
Now set the size and number of pieces (see also tutorial R1 for details). The preview-window will help you with this, it updates every time you make a change to the settings. QA will also kindly tell you how many pieces you will need. In my case 332. After all, at this point you might want to reconsider if you really want to start this project...
Klick on OK and the workplace will show you a complete color design!
Don't forget to save!
The program is now in the "Color" mode and shows a separate color window.
You can increase its size so you can see all of the colors used.
At this time there are probably too many colors to find in your fabric stash. Go to "Edit - Reduce Number of Colors" and choose a more realistic number. Now you can further change the remaining colors and/or redistribute them. More on that subject in the next lesson, or experiment for yourself!
